Magnetic Measurements
A gaussmeter is a device used to measure the intensity or direction of a magnetic field, or the magnetization of a sample. It is based on an element sensitive to the magnetic field: the magnetic field sensor which, when associated with an electronic device, makes it possible to extract the measurement from the magnetic field. Gaussmeters are mainly used for geological studies and the detection of magnetic anomalies or ferrous objects.
The Hall effect sensor, which is probably the most familiar and widely used sensor for measuring strong magnetic fields.
